Hey friends,
I ran a little poll on my instagram stories recently, asking what topics people would like to discuss with a therapist, and one particular topic came back louder than the rest: “Feeling stuck!”
It made me pause. Not because I don’t relate — I do — but because it reminded me of something I’ve come to believe:
Being stuck isn’t always about not knowing what we want. Sometimes, we know exactly what we want — we’re just scared to reach out and touch it.
I remember approaching 30 and feeling a little lost & stuck. My career didn’t quite fit, and I thought I needed a clear plan to make a move. But clarity isn’t a prerequisite for change — movement is.
Now, nearing the end of my 30s (without giving away too much), I’m feeling that itch again. I still love what I do — I’ve spent years helping people look and feel their best — but there’s a pull for something new. A challenge. Growth. A different kind of fulfilment.
And it’s not just work.
Maybe you’ve built the life you prayed for — the job, the marriage, the family — but something still feels like it’s shifting.
Maybe now you want kids.
Maybe your kids are here, but you want different things for them — a different school, more opportunity, more time.
Maybe your job is “good,” but it doesn’t light you up anymore.
Maybe it’s your body, your mindset, your marriage, your money.
Nothing’s wrong — but you’re ready for more.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Change isn’t punishment. It’s an invitation.
It’s your soul saying, “Hey… we’ve mastered this level. Want to see what else we can do?”
And honestly? That’s exciting.
When you start paying attention — to what brings you joy, who you admire, the skills that spark something in you — life becomes a puzzle. You begin noticing people, opportunities, and signs that align with where you’re meant to go. You stop waiting. You start building.
If You’re Feeling Stuck, Try This:
1. Audit your life honestly — without judgment.
Ask: Is it my finances? Family? Career? Confidence? Energy? Get clear on where the ache is. That’s your starting point.
2. Look backward to move forward.
What has consistently brought you joy, peace, or energy — even in small moments? What industry, conversation, or activity stirs something in you?
3. Tap into something bigger.
Whether it’s faith, prayer, meditation, or stillness — ground yourself in something beyond you. And speak to someone. Don’t carry it alone.
4. Be a student of your next season.
Read, learn, stretch. Here are a few great books to start:
• The 12 Week Year by Patrick Bet-David – for focus & momentum
• The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz – for clarity & mindset
• Atomic Habits by James Clear – for small shifts that lead to big change
5. Surround yourself wisely.
Get around people who inspire you — not intimidate you. Use their success as a mirror, not a measuring stick. Be curious, not jealous. Be teachable, not insecure.
📊 Here’s a stat to keep in mind:
According to a LinkedIn study, nearly 60% of people say they feel stuck in their careers — and the top reason is fear of the unknown.
You’re not alone. You’re not behind. You’re not broken.
You’re just being stretched. And on the other side of that stretch?
Clarity. Confidence. And joy.
You’ve got this.
And if it feels scary — good. You’re on the right path.
With love, faith, and a little fire,
Donita Boateng x
