Is Femininity a Learnt Behaviour or a Natural Trait?
Recently, the internet has been buzzing with discussions about women embracing their femininity, embodying the "soft girl" era, and reconnecting with the values of the traditional wife role. But the..
Alright, let’s address the elephant in the room: Is femininity something we’re born with, or is it the result of years of cultural conditioning, Vogue covers, and that one TikTok makeup tutorial? Do men have a role to play in how feminine or hyper-masculine we are? Is trauma holding us back from embracing our feminine energy?
So many questions.
Recently, the internet has been buzzing with discussions about women embracing their femininity, embodying the "soft girl" era, and reconnecting with the values of the traditional wife role. But the question arises: is this something women can learn from social media, or is there a missing piece to the puzzle that requires a deeper, more personal exploration beyond the online narrative?
Some women celebrate this lifestyle as the ultimate expression of femininity, while others argue it's a problematic step backwards.
The whole ‘feminine energy’ and’ traditional wife’ trend has actually divided women.
Femininity, in my view, is a personal thing, it’s really what you make of it. But if we're leaning into traditional definitions, sure, there is something innately feminine about being a woman. But, society plays a huge role in how we express and interpret it. Culture, media, and even the people we surround ourselves with shape how we understand and perform femininity.
Now, here's the interesting bit, the role a man plays in all of this.
A man who leads well takes responsibility, and knows who he is can create a space where a woman feels free to embrace her femininity without fear of judgment or rejection.
But the feminine energy can thrive when both partners trust each other and respect their unique roles (if you’re obviously going for a more traditional way of living life.)
Some people don’t want it this way and that’s fine too.
But ladies, if this is what you want this does mean that sometimes, yes, sometimes, you might need to put down your guard so he can step into that masculinity you’re looking for.
Modern femininity: choice over tradition
But the good thing about our generation: modern femininity isn’t about fitting into a mould; it’s about choice. Want to channel your inner Marilyn Monroe or live your best “CEO in sneakers” life? Both are valid. Today, femininity is less about tradition and more about authenticity.
So, the question shouldn’t be whether femininity is natural or learnt, it’s how you choose to define it for yourself. What’s your vibe?

So true. Different people bring out different sides of us. A protective man, a man who offers to pay my bills and take me out and genuinely treats me like a girly girl will bring out the more feminine side of me.
So true, in today’s world we get to define Feminity. There’s no longer one picture or one central concept. Great read.
